In this context the holy pilgrimage of Shri Baba Amarnath holds a significance to be a shrine of almighty Shiva formed through ice Lingam in the rough terrains in high Himalayas where the pilgrims undertake the most difficult of the journey a faith undeterred that is supreme in human beings. Enshrined in the heavenly abode of snowy Himalayas, Baba Amarnath's yatra commences from the base camp Pahalgam , a scenic paradise in Kashmir that takes two routes its journey towards the cave, one from Chandanwari and the other being Baltal.Both the serpentine routes scaling the rough terrain used to offer great impediments to the pilgrims, but now with government having done remarkable development in the area, the journey is simplified for all genre people to undertake for paying obeisance to holy shrine.
As per the myth underlining the discovery of the holy shrine of Hindu reverence, the pioneer in announcing such miracle of Lord Shiva's Ice Lingam in the Himalayan abode were announced by a Muslim Gujjar family to whom a part of offerings go as a gratitude . And the religious anecdote attached to the holy place is that a pair of pigeons nestled above the cave are the messengers of the almighty who, if give audience to any pious soul may bring prosperity into its life.
